Wastewater Risk Abatement Plan (Half Day over 2 days)

Regulation of public utilities and in particular of water and wastewater services carries huge economic and social importance as they are essential to the development and cohesion of society. In South Africa, one of the approaches to Regulation, adapted by the Department of Water and Sanitation, is that of Incentive-based Regulation – a concept defined by the Green Drop Certification Programme for Wastewater Quality Management Regulation.  One of the key elements in this Incentive-based Regulation approach, is the concept of risk management.  Locally, risk management for wastewater treatment systems is defined by the Wastewater Risk Abatement Planning process, a process which is to be unpacked during this masterclass.

On completion of the course, participants should be able to:

  • Understand the steps required when conducting a Wastewater Risk Abatement Planning process.
  • Have the ability to evaluate a Wastewater Risk Abatement Plan
  • Have the tools to conduct a Wastewater Risk Abatement Planning process.
