Water Safety Planning (Half Day over 2 days)

Regulation of public utilities and in particular of water and wastewater services carries huge economic and social importance as they are essential to the development and cohesion of society. In South Africa, one of the approaches to Regulation, adapted by the Department of Water and Sanitation is that of Incentive-based Regulation – a concept defined by the Blue Drop Certification Programme for Drinking Water Quality Management Regulation.  One of the key elements in this Incentive-based Regulation approach, is the concept of risk management.  Internationally, risk management is defined by the Water Safety Planning process, a process which is to be unpacked during this masterclass.

On completion of the course, participants should be able to:

  • Understand the steps required when conducting a Water Safety Planning process.
  • Have the ability to evaluate a Water Safety Plan
  • Have the tools to conduct a Water Safety Planning process.
