Technical Programme Officer (Ref: TPO)
(Contract: 3 Years)

The Technical Programme Officer position requires a dynamic individual that will be responsible for providing technical input and support to the WRC Water Reuse and Desalination Advisory Programme in the Research and Development Branch. The main aim of this programme is to support the implementation of a mix of water supply augmentation options, such as desalination and water reuse, in South Africa, as means of improving water supply assurance and reliability. The Technical Programme Officer will be a member of the Research and Development Branch and will report directly to the Research Manager. The ideal candidate must be in possession of a degree in engineering or natural sciences or related field or equivalent NQF level 7 whilst a post graduate qualification will be advantageous. At least 1-3 years relevant experience is required whilst experience in the water and waste water treatment environment will be advantageous. The Technical Programme Officer will be responsible for leading and providing (technical and administrative) support to a dedicated initiative called the Water Reuse and Desalination Advisory Programme. This will include coordinating programme activities to ensure high quality implementation and delivery as well as assisting in preparing detailed work plans and budget reports. In addition, the Technical Programme Officer will be required to track and facilitate the progress of the programme operations and provide stakeholders with status reports.
